Liquid Epoxy (LE) Coated Line Pipe_pipe

Description

LE Liquid Epoxy Coating and Lining, this application uses a two-part liquid epoxy paint system applied in a single coat in anticorrosion protection for steel pipes. The first process the pipes go through are cleaned & blasted. Then liquid epoxy is applied to the pipe surface by spray guns, forming a uniform single layer epoxy which cures after application.

The codes and standards for Liquid-Epoxy Coating is AWWA C210, SHELL DEP 31.40.30.35, EN 10301, ISO 15741, API RP 5L2

AWWA C210 Standard for Liquid-Epoxy Coating Systems for the Interior and Exterior of Steel Water Pipelines

SHELL DEP 31.40.30.35 Internal coating of line pipe for non-corrosive gas transmission service

EN 10301:2006 STEEL TUBES AND FITTINGS FOR ON AND OFFSHORE PIPELINES – INTERNAL COATING FOR THE REDUCTION OF FRICTION FOR CONVEYANCE OF NON-CORROSIVE GAS

ISO 15741:2016 Paints and varnishes — Friction-reduction coatings for the interior of on- and offshore steel pipelines for non-corrosive gases

API RP 5L2 Recommended Practice for Internal Coating of Line Pipe for Non-Corrosive Gas Transmission Service

These standards describe the material and application for shop and field-applied, liquid-epoxy interior linings and exterior coatings and linings used in the water-supply industry for steel water pipelines installed underground or underwater, under normal construction conditions.

External liquid coating is applied to the outside pipe surface by a spraying system, providing corrosion protection for the pipe surfaces.

There are multiple coating types available e.g. liquid epoxy, polyurethane (PU), or e.g. (UV-curable) lacquer.

The internal liquid lining is a coating layer on an internal pipe surface to protect against corrosion or to optimize flow efficiency. There are multiple coating types available such as liquid epoxy, polyurethane (PU), or 2-component coating.

After placing the pipe in the internal liquid coating station, the pipe ends are sealed off and a lance with the spraying gun system is moved through the pipe. Pre-heating could be an option for internal liquid coating.

Internal Linings that Increase the Efficiency of Flow-rate, Liquid epoxy resin is sprayed on the inside of the pipes at a typical thickness of 60 to 100 micrometers. The result is an improvement of the gas transportation capacity, a minimization of frictional resistance and thus a reduction in compressor stations. Simplified cleaning and temporary protection against rust make flow coating a unique and cost-efficient solution for gas transportation.

Liquid Epoxy Resin Coatings for Water Pipelines

Liquid epoxy resin is sprayed on the insides of the pipes at thicknesses between 400 and 500 micrometers. For this, we use a new generation of solvent-free epoxy resins.
